Toilet Paper Roll Crafts for Black History Month - Happy Toddler Playtime (1)

Black History Month is not usually an important holiday in most homes, mine included. I usually have left it up to my daughter’s school to teach her about black history. This year I wanted it to be a little bit more hands on especially since our social justice activities and protests we did during the summer.

I know making crafts for Black History Month is a great way start the conversation of racial and social justice. Just like how we want our sons to be champions of women’s rights. My hope is that my kids – and in fact all kids – to be champions of social and racial justice.

“I said to my children, ‘I’m going to work and do everything that I can do to see that you get a good education. I don’t ever want you to forget that there are millions of God’s children who will not and cannot get a good education, and I don’t want you feeling that you are better than they are. For you will never be what you ought to be until they are what they ought to be.”
