Fury Warrior Cataclysm Pre Patch Information
This page contains all relevant information needed for FuryWarrior during the Cataclysm Classic Pre Patch.Be sure to check back as we get closer to the release date, as this page will beupdated with the latest information for Cataclysm itself when it releases.
1.1.
Is Fury Warrior Viable in Cataclysm
Fury Warrior is an averageDPS class in Cataclysm PvE content. Similar to previous expansions,Fury starts of very weak early on and scales up throughout theexpansions lifespan, becoming fairly powerful towards the end. FuryWarrior is great in 10-man raid groups as it cancover numerous buffs and debuffs. That being said Fury is stilla melee DPS with limited unique utility, making it unlikely that many groups willbring multiple DPS Warriors to a raid.
2.
Best Races for Fury Warrior in Cataclysm
Alliance Arms Warriors bestoption is Worgen as Viciousness offers the most total stats, and Darkflight givesyou movement speed utility. Humans are decentsecond choice as they offer Mace Specialization and Sword Specialization, which gives 3 Expertise whenever you are using aSword or Mace. They will also have access to Will to Survive, which isone of the best racials in the game for PvP content.
Horde FuryWarriors have a few contenders for the best race. Goblins are astrong choice, offering Time is Money, Rocket Jump and Rocket Barrage. Orcs remain a solidchoice as well, offering Axe Specialization and Blood Fury. Both choices are very close with Goblin beingbetter overall.
3.
Raid Buffs and Utility
Fury Warrior has limitedutility in Cataclysm, bringing only a few non-unique buffs and debuffs.
- Battle Shout;
- Commanding Shout;
- Rampage;
- Demoralizing Shout;
- Sunder Armor;
- Thunder Clap.
4.
Talents and Glyphs
At Level 80 you can pick most of your main talents for Fury,only missing out on Deep Wounds:
For higher AoE damage, take 2 points out of Incite and placethem in Blood and Thunder instead to make your Thunder Clap spread your Rend, highly boosting yourAoE damage output.
You can get all of your glyphs at level 80 besides Glyph of Colossus Smash, which requires level 81 to learn the newability Colossus Smash. Be sure to learn all of these glyphs assoon as possible.
- Prime Glyphs
- Glyph of Bloodthirst
- Glyph of Raging Blow
- Glyph of Slam
- Major Glyphs
- Glyph of Death Wish
- Glyph of Cleaving
- Glyph of Victory Rush
- Minor Glyphs
- Glyph of Berserker Rage
- Glyph of Command
- Glyph of Shattering Throw
Your rotation during the pre-patch of Cataclysm is very similar to what itwill be at level 85, with the exclusion of Colossus Smash, whichrequires level 81 to train.
5.1.
Single Target Rotation
Below is the ideal single target rotation as FuryWarrior. This rotation will be much moredifficult to accomplish when you are in low gear as you will often find yourselfrage started and unable to use Bloodthirst as frequently as isrequired.
- Battle Shout / Commanding Shout
- Off the global cooldown, use whenever available to generate rage.
- Bloodthirst
- 3 second cooldown; use this every other attack.
- Raging Blow
- Requires an enrage effect from either Enrage, Berserker Rage or Death Wish to be usable.
- Slam
- Only use with Bloodsurge procs.
- Execute
- Only usable when target is below 20% health.
- Heroic Strike
- Use when above 70 Rage or when Battle Trance procs.
5.2.
AoE Target Rotation
While your single target rotation can be complicated, the AoE rotation ismuch simpler.
- Whirlwind
- Now hits all targets and the cooldown is reduced to 4 seconds if itsuccessfully hits at least four targets.
- Bloodthirst
- Use this if you will still have Ragefor Whirlwind.
- Cleave
- Use for any excessive Rage.
6.
Gear and Stat Priority
With the Cataclysm stat rework, main stats are much stronger than theypreviously were, making Strength your best stat by far. Cataclysm alsointroduces the new stat Mastery, which gives FuryWarriors Unshackled Fury, increasingall of you enrage abilities and effects. Below you will find your ideal statpriority:
- Strength
- Prioritize this greatly above everything else.
- Until you reach 8% soft Hit cap.
- Until you reach 26 Expertise (6.5%).
- Provides extra value through Flurry.
- Until around 15% Hit chance.
- Increases effect of abilities that cause of require you to be enraged,such as Death Wish and Raging Blow.
- Very low value; aim for gear without Haste.
You will mostly be using the same gear as was recommended for Wrath ClassicPhase 5 with a few exceptions. Any non-Plate gear should be replaced by the bestPlate item you have for the slot to activate Plate Specialization,the new passive Fury Warriorsget for wearing all Plate gear. This 5% Strength bonus will far outweighany other minor DPS increase gained by wearing Leather or Mail gear as was thecase in previous expansions.
The gear below also shows our recommendations for the new system, Reforging,which allows you to convert 40% of one stat into another that is notalready on the gear. While we recommend mostly reforging into Mastery, only dothis if you are already Hit (8%) and Expertise (6.5%) capped.Simply follow the Stat Priority list above for thebest results.
